I go to Church a lot. I'm an Episcopalian (formerly a catholicish Methodist, turned MCCer) . I'm also an aspiring Priest and Anthropologist( of the socio-cultural variety). Also, I'm a gay with a wonderful Boyfriend. This blog will likely be a combination of churchy things, anthropology, and things I find amusing. Please forgive my grammar and style, because most of my writing on here is stream of consciousness. I don't argue.
I’m all for criticizing those who use Leviticus to support their anti-queer arguments
But can we not do so by going “well Leviticus also says you can’t eat shellfish! Do you listen to that???? How absurd!”
Because
A) people DO refrain from eating shellfish for religious reasons, actually
And
B) refusing to eat shellfish does not deprive ACTUAL LIVING HUMAN BEINGS of their rights so frankly I don’t give a shit whether people eat shrimp or not.
