I go to Church a lot. I'm an Episcopalian (formerly a catholicish Methodist, turned MCCer) . I'm also an aspiring Priest and Anthropologist( of the socio-cultural variety). Also, I'm a gay with a wonderful Boyfriend. This blog will likely be a combination of churchy things, anthropology, and things I find amusing. Please forgive my grammar and style, because most of my writing on here is stream of consciousness. I don't argue.
Thaxted Parish Church (CofE), Essex. Principle shrine of the Anglo-Catholic Socialist movement according to the Socialist Christian Catechism 1947
As I have said before, I need to write a thesis for my new program, and I think that I will try to write it about post colonial African immigrants in the Episcopal Church. I would examine the clash of cultures of conservative African Anglicans in the liberal Episcopal Church with emphases on post-colonialism, transnationalism, and identity. If anyone has suggestions for reading on the anglican communion, anthropology of religion, anthropology of community, african Anglicanism, or anything of the sort, I would appreciate it. Also if anyone thinks I should reconsider and study Spiritus Christi church of Rochester instead, I would appreciate hearing why.
